Social Security Sistem ( Retirees)

Bookmark and Share
There is much confusion today about the future of our social security system. Many of the issues that surround this topic almost made it look as if we support a system that is only destined for bankruptcy. The average age in the United States and most technologically advanced almost 80 years. That almost 10 years older than when the system starts. The birth rate has declined steadily over 12 years and at its lowest level since national data have been available. And the population nearly doubled since 1970. These are some of the main arguments mentioned when discussing this issue. We will discuss this and try to see both sides of this topic.

Americans are living longer and causes a potential problem that the younger generation must take care the retirees. Advances in technology and medicine have made life easier, healthier, and more forgiving of poor health habits because they find the cure for more diseases. How population with shrinking birth rate to maintain generation with the highest birth rate? On the other hand, if you consider the fact that older workers are also more highly paid workers, now the average life expectancy has changed. If our minds open to this possibility, this is just one of many ways to find solutions rather than just being focused on the problem.
After a steady decline in the birth rate for 12 consecutive years, raises the question, would we have enough manpower to maintain the older population for our retirement? Common sense would tell us that leaner workforce will have trouble maintaining the weight that the baby boomers will be like them when they retire. Fortunately, the social security system is not based on common sense, and despite all the potential problems in the future is not foreseen at the beginning, a new problem could be an opportunity to make something better than a better position. And if the numbers are as claimed, we can just simply see it as a phase that the system will have to live through but then after that, we must learn to adjust the appropriate system to make it work.
Another issue that must be mentioned when discussing this topic is that the overall population increase. The world population has almost doubled since 1970 from about 3.7 billion to around 6.8 billion, so even though the birth rate may decline, the actual birth is not. Even in the United States, the population as a whole has increased significantly from approximately 205 million to around 310 million. This in itself tells us that although we may have baby boomers retiring and living longer, we have more residents of the country with more workers than ever to contribute to our social security system.
As citizens, we can always have a choice, whether we are willing to act to try to find a way out, or sit quietly as a spectator.
